Ongoing Assessment: Observe students during the preparation of their presentations. Are they using pictures that will help convince audience to choose their suggested equipment? Check for understanding by reviewing their notes on the different equipment. Did their findings match the criteria?
Accommodations: An FM system will be used for my students with hearing loss. For my students that have trouble staying on task, they will be given a copy of the rubric that will help them stay focused on what they’re supposed to be looking for. For those students who prefer not to use the computer, color pamphlets will be available that provides the same information. They can use these to create their collage and prepare their speech.
Back-up plan: In the event there is a problem with technology, hard copies of the information can be used for students to create their presentation. Poster size construction paper is readily available for the collage. They work that was completed in previous lessons can be printed and used to complete the assignment. If there is a problem with the Internet, we will use PowerPoint to complete the presentation.
Evaluation
Lesson Reflections and Notes: This lesson is scheduled for 2 class periods; is that enough time. Consider if the students were able to use the presentation software with ease. If there were any hiccups, what were they and can they be rectified? Were all students engaged in the assignment?
